We have to acknowledge receipt of your letter dated 9th inst. with enclosed copy of letter from Messrs. Dakin Bras, Ltd. We have since been in communication with our Leading Brokers in London regarding the matter referred to,
We now beg to say in reply that Messrs. Dakin are not regular shippers by our steamers, and that we have always avoided cargo for outward ports in Ching as much as possible, more especially now when there is more direct cargo offering than can be dealt with.
It is no doubt in view of our position as above that our Agents in Hongkong have not advised us direct regarding the new regulations at that port.
